What:
Buffalo Soul
Where:
Nashville, Tennessee
Why:
In a city built on the shoulders of singers and songwriters, this home was originally a historic bed-and-breakfast. The property recently changed hands and the new owners are renting it as an entire home.
Originally built in 1937, the four-bedroom, five-bath structure features a limestone façade, Tudor architecture and multiple private spaces designed for private collaboration and creativity. Buffalo Soul is more than just a place to stay—it’s a place to create, connect and experience what gives Nashville the name “Music City.”
The design pays homage to cofounder and ACM-nominated recording artist JT Hodges’ parents—a Julliard-trained father and recording artist mother—who instilled his passion for music during his childhood. The home, which features a recording studio in the basement, is filled with musical touches including memorabilia, records and playlists on demand. The kitchen comes stocked with all kinds of goodies to enjoy during your stay.
Artists and songwriters will enjoy a setting that gives them privacy and space to collaborate, complete with multiple creative spaces and a backyard with a one-of-a-kind, 50-foot, in-ground acoustic guitar fountain and fire pit. And as part of the Buffalo Soul experience, weekend guests have the opportunity to have in-home musical experiences with singer/songwriters curated by JT himself.
How:
What:
Wilderness Lodge
Where:
Jackson Hole’s West Bank, Wyoming
Why:
This modern slice of heaven sits amidst Jackson Hole’s gorgeous mountains and mature trees. Heading up the tranquil driveway, the five-bedroom home (including the two-bedroom guest house) reveals a teak exterior that blends nicely with its natural environment and huge windows to take in the views.
Ideal for entertaining, the great room offers a cozy fireplace for conversation, and the sprawling dining room table seats up to 14 guests. Upstairs a large game room features a ping-pong table, refrigerator, games, and plenty of space to spread out and relax.
Though beautiful on the inside, the home’s outdoor spaces are what makes this abode truly shine. Take the party outside to the ample dining area and gas grill, or savor a little après-ski under the stars in the hot tub. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is only 4.3 miles away, and Grand Teton National Park is an easy day trip.
