The Tel Aviv Grill in Tarzana from Doron Goldberg and business partner Tzahi Yom Tov draws people in droves for some of the Valley’s best shawarma. Now there’s good news for folks in the east. The fast-casual Israeli restaurant has opened in Valley Village.
Just like the original, this menu is glatt kosher and features pita, plate, baguette or laffa—a puffy, pull-apart flatbread. Possible fillings include schnitzel, chicken breast steak, merguez and falafel.
Chicken shawarma is by far the most popular protein, with boneless chicken thighs marinated with more than 20 spices and spit-roasted. Accent any sandwich with toppings like hummus, tahini, fried eggplant, purple cabbage, spicy red chile sauce, and a piquant green garlic and herb sauce that they call “wedding sauce.”
Tel Aviv Grill also serves a hamburger that’s available on a bun or pita. French fries, Turkish coffee and “daily dessert” join the flavorful fray.
It’s hard to imagine a much simpler concept that’s so “delicious” and “fast,” but Tel Aviv Grill’s wall already implanted those subliminal messages—so you already know.
