For many Valley-ites, Thai food is an important part of dining out. They’ll be thrilled to learn about Spicy Lime Thai—a solid new option in Encino with a diverse menu that stretches beyond typical fare of noodle dishes, stir-fries and curries.
Spicy Lime Thai makes good use of their signature spicy lime sauce in nine different dishes. Whole fried pompano ($18) is probably your best bet. An entire fish with flaky white meat arrives blanketed in crispy garlic and served with spicy lime sauce crafted with chilies and minced garlic. Pair with white (or brown) rice for a great one-person meal.
Of course no restaurant would bank their success on a single sauce, and Spicy Lime Thai certainly does not. Fans of pork will appreciate dishes like spicy Thai sausage and Southern Thai pork rib curry seasoned with shaved Makrut lime leaves. They also serve herbaceous fried chicken and Bangkok’s famed boat noodle soup with thin rice noodles, beef, beef balls, bean sprouts, Chinese broccoli, cilantro, scallions and chile oil.
The space has a nice ambience, complete with a wraparound brick patio, dining room with pastel green and red walls lined with colorful ingredient photos, cushioned green banquettes, and wood tables. Spicy Lime Thai has only been open for six months, but based on the bustling lunch crowd we witnessed it is already becoming a popular option for locals and weekday businesspeople.
