Peasant Wine Bistro in Tarzana is having a very special six-course wine pairing dinner on April 28 at 7 p.m. Vinter Hugh Maldonado of Maldonado Winery will showcase his wines alongside dishes prepared by trained French chef Marcel Vinson.
The menu includes: endive salad with watercress, celery and gruyere; clams in white wine and parsley butter with roasted garlic and sundried tomatoes; mushroom ravioli with tomato coulis and basil oil; chicken cocotte grandmere with pearl onions, mushrooms, potatoes and bacon (braised chicken casserole); elk sausage in raspberry sauce; and banana chocolate mousse. In addition to award-winning wines, Hugh Maldonado has one of the most inspiring stories in the wine world as an immigrant who started as a farmworker and grew to own, create and cultivate his own award-winning family-run winery. $95 per person. Highlights include lobster crab cakes; lobster panini; lobster bisque; lobster tails; and seafood vol au vent (lobster, scallop and shrimp wrapped in filo dough). There's also steak and lobster for an additional fee. Dessert choices include flourless chocolate cake, tiramisu or a trio of sorbet.
