How many sushi joints can try and make a go of it at 16161 Ventura Blvd in Encino? Six going on seven, it seems. Tomo Sushi is now making plans to open in the same space that housed Crazy Tokyo Sushi, Sushi Avenue, Mika Sushi, Tokyo Ice, Moolgoge Sushi and Sushi Aieto.
In other sushi news, Encino’s Mako Sushi (in the CPK center) is being replaced by a new establishment. Stay tuned.
Hot Wings Café has finally opened at 4609 Van Nuys Blvd. nearly two years after construction began. This is the fifth location for this popular eatery that originated on Melrose Avenue.
The former Chez Nous in Toluca Lake is now curiously a venue for two separately owned establishments that share some of the same food items —Aeirloom Bakery and Luca’s Lounge (10550 Riverside Dr.) Aeirloom is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week and serves all organic baked goods, along with omelets, sandwiches, salads, a cheese selection and a kid’s menu. Luca’s Lounge serves casual fare that includes snack items, salads and sandwiches along with beer, cocktails and wine. It opens at 5 p.m. daily and is closed on Sunday.
