The former Good Earth space in Studio City is currently under construction and slated to be the third location of The Granville Café—a sit-down, casual restaurant with an eclectic, seasonal menu full of organic choices. Other locations are in Burbank and at The Americana in Glendale.
Thai food fans rejoice. The very popular Lum-Ka-Naad in Northridge is expanding to Encino at 17644 Ventura Boulevard, just east of White Oak. Lum-Ka-Naad is known for its noodle bar and nearly 180 Northern and Southern Thai specialty dishes. Look for the opening this April.
The team of Alen Aivazian, Ryan Sweeney, Mike Malin and Brandon Bradford are now listed as the owners and licensees of the former Saghi in Encino, which has been shuttered for two years. The same team is also listed as the owners of the former Smiles in Sherman Oaks. So far there’s been no announcement about what’s being built in either location, but by knowing the owners’ combined various interests in such restaurants as The Surly Goat (West Hollywood), Little Bear (Downtown), The Blind Donkey (Pasadena) and Geisha House (Hollywood)—and just for the fact the Ryan Sweeney is known for his expertise as a craft beer sommelier (aka Cicerone)—bets can be placed on some kind of innovative gastropub that’s yet to be seen in the 818.
Meanwhile, The One Up in the former Mr. Cecil’s Ribs location just a few doors down is finally under construction. The sign says “eat, drink, play” with a computerized image — looks like an arcade pub theme.
