What’s a poutine? That would be fried potatoes plus—at NoHo's The Federal Bar, a base of french fries, sweet potato fries or tater tots, topped with your choice of gravy/sauce and a variety of toppings including short rib, bacon, soyrizo, bacon, cheeses, brussels sprouts and more. The French-Canadian specialty will be waiting for you every Monday and Tuesday night beginning at 6 p.m. at The Federal Bar.
If that sounds like a heavy meal, it is. Poutines come build-your-own or from the poutine menu, which includes such combos as the Classic (cheese curds with grain-mustard gravy over house fries), Angry Chicken (blue cheese, wing sauce and ranch dressing over house fries) or Breakfast (cheese curds, bacon, avocado, hollandaise with a fried egg, also with house fries).
At The Federal’s Poutinerie tasting event last week, The Sauce tried the Texas (pulled pork, cheese curds, barbecue sauce and crispy onion, house fries) and The Sauce Spouse got creative with a custom poutine including short ribs, barbecue sauce, cheese curds and crispy brussels sprouts over sweet potato fries. Poutine is the upscale version of chili fries—fun, shareable and just right for The Federal Bar’s party atmosphere. And guaranteed you’ll walk out with a hefty box of leftovers.
