Blue Dog Tavern, that cozy, 1940s-style bungalow on Sepulveda just south of Ventura, is entering its sixth year by adding a late-night menu and extended hours plus new dishes to the regular and happy hour menus.
Seared ahi salad
Bruschetta
New items of note on the regular menu: pulled pork fries, nacho fries, house-made onion "strings," seared ahi tuna salad and a guacamole with house-made chips. For those watching carbs, the ahi filet, burger or veggie patty can be made into a salad. Happy hour is now a better deal with more beer and wine options, plus filling dishes such as several variations of burger sliders, pulled pork tacos topped with crispy onion strings, and bruschetta. If you've got a sweet tooth any time of day, don't miss the artisanal root beer float or the ice cream sandwich (below).
The late-night menu starts at 10:30 p.m. Perfect after a film at the ArcLight! New late-night hours: open until midnight, Sunday through Wednesday and until 1 a.m., Thursday through Saturday. 4524 Saugus Avenue, Sherman Oaks, 818-990-2583
