9021PHO restaurant, with celebrated Vietnamese master chef Kimmy Tang at the helm, has opened at Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks. It’s a casual, healthy dining experience with a Vietnamese-centric menu that offers a French and California twist. Fancy Footwear

Shoe freaks rejoice! There’s a new (much-needed) place to indulge your passion in the “hood.” Calleen Cordero opened shop along the Boulevard, just west of Coldwater. Manufacturing high-end shoes, belts and handbags in a 10,000-square-foot factory in NoHo for the better part of a decade, Cordero had been running a boutique on the Westside but recently closed it and opened here. The new shop is at 13019 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.

Puppy Love

Squeezed in between swanky retail stores, Lucky Puppy looks like a typical pet store with adorable dogs, plush bedding and high-end dog supplies. But as “walk-ins” quickly discover, Lucky Puppy is a non-profit, “no kill” pet shelter. For between $200 and $350, customers can adopt a healthy, neutered/spayed dog with shots. Lucky Puppy workers go to local shelters and legally adopt dogs—animals that then benefit from the exposure of being placed in a storefront window on the Boulevard. So far, they appear to be right. Forty dogs got homes in Lucky Puppy’s first month of business. Retail sales proceeds go back into saving rescues. Two paws up!
