The latest restaurant to enter the 818’s Sunday brunch scene is Tarzana’s Peasant Wine Bistro. A “Summer Champagne Brunch” will be offered on the second and fourth Sundays of the month starting June 8. The à la carte menu runs $10 to $18 and includes: lemon ricotta pancakes with fresh berries; brioche French toast with crème anglaise, maple syrup and fresh fruit; lump crab Benedict with poached eggs and potatoes; organic-eggs omelet with herbs, gruyere and shoestring fries; breakfast quesadilla with applewood smoked bacon, scrambled eggs, mozzarella and roasted tomato salsa; lox pizza with homemade salmon fillets, red onions, capers, cream cheese and topped with wild arugula; breakfast pizza with sunny-side up eggs, prosciutto, grape tomatoes and blue cheese (pictured above).
Champagne and bubbles will be available by the glass or bottle, as well as a special “bubbly flight” of three styles of French champagne and sparkling wine. Bottomless mimosas are offered for the serious brunch set. Owner/sommelier Greg Woodbury will introduce the champagnes on June 8, while there will be a guest sommelier present on June 22 to talk about French champagnes and sparkling wine. Call 818 -708-7081 for reservations.
