Los Encinos School provides a comprehensive educational program within a nurturing environment. The school serves kindergarten through sixth grade, and students are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and joy in learning. They are prepared to become global thinkers and citizens with a sound academic foundation. Strong character and mutual respect are also emphasized daily in the classroom and through the school’s service learning program. Applications for the 2014-2015 school year are due by January 15, 2014, and notifications are made in March 2014.
What would you like kids and parents to know about your school?
“We believe childhood is a unique, magnificent time of life. We keep our school small enough to reap the proven social benefits of a close-knit learning community while pursuing rigorous and developmentally appropriate academic programs. At Los Encinos School, we honor all aspects of growth and development, which include physical and emotional health.”
How does your school make our community a better place for children?
“We know that children are more adventurous and eager to learn when their environment comforts rather than overwhelms them. As educators, we understand the importance of knowing each child as an individual. At Los Encinos, students experience learning with more attention, more personal recognition, more confidence and therefore more success.”
What benefits do children gain from your school?
“Perhaps the most extraordinary benefit of our school is the deep, interpersonal engagement it affords at so many levels. Our students not only interact socially across all grades, they also learn together and from one another during planned, multi-age learning experiences. These shared experiences build confidence in young children and give older students mentoring practice and solid leadership skills.”
What sets your school apart from the rest?
“The size of our school. By keeping our school small, we provide a uniquely student-focused elementary education that sets the stage for a child’s future academic success. Los Encinos students leave our school with stellar academic credentials, a mature sense of independence and strong character.”
Does your school support charitable organizations that help children?
“We encourage family participation in a variety of charitable projects that benefit children. Some of the organizations we support include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Los Angeles Family Housing, Habitat for Humanity, Guide Dogs of America, the LA River Project, One Generation, and Meet each Need with Dignity (MEND).”
