Get Your Spook On at Firefly
Firefly in Studio City is conjuring up Halloween spirit on All Hallows' Eve from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. with music, décor and special menu items just for the occasion. Along with regular dinner service, festive dishes include Liquid Eye Ball Ravioli (gelled watermelon mojito topped with carbonated sugar and mint leaf) and Listen to Me (peanut butter and white chocolate mousse “ear” dripping with raspberry and black currant “blood”). Special cocktails in the lounge and dining patio include La Calabaza California/The California Pumpkin (spiced rum, house-made pumpkin spice syrup, lemon and orange juice, candied ginger, with a cinnamon-sugar rim and garnished with a slapped sage leaf) and Sangre De Los Ladrones/Blood of Thieves (Larceny Bourbon Antica Formula, orange bitters and Red Lillet, garnished with a Luxardo cherry).
As a part of the celebration, parties of four or more who dine between 5 and 7 p.m. will receive a complimentary bottle of cava when they share a celebratory photo via Instagram—#FireflyHalloween. 11720 Ventura Blvd, 818-762-1833
Holiday Cooking Classes for Kids
Jennifer Evans Gardner, co-author of Meringue, is offering a series of holiday cooking classes with her Studio City-based Little Feet in the Kitchen for ages 6 to 12. Just in time for Halloween is “Treats, No Tricks” on October 18. Kids will learn how to make meringue “ghosts” and a pumpkin mousse mini-pavlova.
The Thanksgiving class “Thankful for You” will take place on November 23 with sweet and savory recipes: stuffed mini-pumpkins with sage and cream or classic breading pudding, as well as caramelized apple rustic tarts.
Round out the holiday season with a Holiday Tea Party on December 13. The “make and eat” menu includes scones, turkey and cranberry finger sandwiches, cake ball “ornaments” and tea.
All classes are from 9 a.m. to noon, and the cost of each class is $60. Space is limited to 10 students per class; to reserve or for more info, email jenevansgardner@gmail.com
No Tricks, All Treats at Morton’s The Steakhouse
Morton’s is offering a very sweet meal deal on Halloween—a three-course menu for $35 per person. Begin with your choice of salad or baked five-onion soup, followed by an entrée: honey-chili glazed salmon or 6-ounce filet mignon. Both come with horseradish mashed potatoes and broccoli. Satisfy your sweet tooth with double chocolate mousse or key lime pie. Tax, gratuity and drinks are extra. mortons.com
