Warren Bregman studied architecture in South Africa before he immigrated to the U.S. in 1993. Licensed as a general contractor since 1997, Imbuia Construction has worked with architects and designers to oversee, implement and build their architectural schemes, big and small. The design/build company’s work includes residential ground-up, remodels, additions, restaurants, commercial and retail office/production/acoustic spaces. Imbuia Construction is relatively new to the Sherman Oaks area; they were based on the Westside and moved here approximately two and one-half years ago.
Describe the vernacular of your practice.
“We do love to add a more modern, contemporary flavor to all of our projects; however, we enjoy all styles—done well. We use clean lines and expose materials, showing their function and beauty in the space. We are always looking at alternate, green products like bamboo and sustainable, reusable products.”
What are the most valuable services you offer to clients?
“We know the requirements of this industry and have an understanding of detailing and structural integrity. We take pride in our workmanship and understand that preparation and planning are most important, in order to do a job once. We understand how to expedite a project through permitting and ultimately into and through production. We give design input when required and coordinate and schedule with all parties involved to get the project done in a timely manner.”
What are some of the most exciting projects you’ve completed?
“The Standard Hotel Future Bar in Hollywood; ground-up residential design and development projects in Cheviot Hills and Beverlywood; we’ve been on two HGTV shows with The Novogratz Design Team from New York; Tony Hawk’s Mammoth home; and the Babakul store in Santa Monica.”
