Frozen yogurt has seen many peaks and valleys since the ’80s. The San Fernando Valley fro-yo scene remains strong thanks to booming businesses like Yogurtland, Menchie’s and beloved indie Humphrey Yogart. In The Village at Topanga, Go Greek Yogurt is betting on a tangy, less sweet style of yogurt that companies like Chobani helped popularize.
The company started in 2012, promising fro-yo that’s “rich in protein and probiotics and lower in sugars and calories than other frozen yogurts, prepared here daily.” In Woodland Hills, six rotating spigots spew frozen yogurt in flavors like wild berry, honey, chocolate and vanilla, plus seasonal options like apricot. Still, I’d suggest starting with plain for the pure, unadulterated representation of this high-quality yogurt.
Toppings in 27 bins include fresh fruit like kiwi, pineapple and mango; more indulgent options like peanut butter chews and chocolate raisins; plus healthier cappers like carob chips, hemp granola and flax seeds.
The space revolves around a patio with sea blue chandelier, reclaimed wood benches and a prime view of the Luckey Climber, a towering jungle gym with steps that look like lily pads. Take a breather with some cool fro-yo and watch your kids climb.
