BREAKFAST IN BED
Start planning your Father’s Day the night before. Get some Trader Joe’s frozen chocolate croissants and let them defrost. The next morning, bake ‘em and surprise Dad with a warm croissant and a steaming “cuppa Joe.”
GAME ON!
Organize a father/son group to play touch football at a local park. Beeman Park (12621 Rye St., Studio City) always seems to have open fields on weekends. Or go to Castle Park (4989 Sepulveda Blvd., Sherman Oaks) for miniature golf or to hit baseballs in batting cages. Or play a round of “grown-up” golf at Balboa (818-995-1170) or Woodley Lakes Golf Course (818-780-6886).
WALK THIS WAY
Finally, go for a long walk. Venture out to Van Nuys to the Japanese Gardens (thejapanesegarden.com). If the gorgeous greenery doesn’t put you in a trance, the trickling water will.
A LITTLE TLC
Now that you’re exercised and satiated, it’s time to relax. Indulge in a side-by-side foot massage at Encino Foot Spa (818-907-7669) or a full-body rub-down at Song’s Acupuncture (818-905-7575).
FIT FOR A KING
Okay you earned it. Go for a full-on lunch. We like Cici’s Café (ciciscafe.com), which has a staggering 25 types of pancakes, or Crave Cafe in Sherman Oaks, for some of their Nutella, strawberry and banana crepes or a fruity smoothie.
