The patient-centered team at Sherwood & Moalej Orthodontics caters to the orthodontic needs of children, teens and adults. Dr. David Sherwood started the practice more than 20 years ago and asked Dr. Bita Moalej to join the practice one year ago. Working on patients for the past eight years, Dr. Bita earned her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her dental degree from the University of Southern California, along with her certificate in orthodontics and master’s degree in craniofacial biology. A Southern California native, Dr. Bita and her family have strong ties to the local community. When not at work, she enjoys basketball, hiking, spending time with friends and family, and travelling.
What would you like kids and parents to know about your business?
“I am extremely blessed to be practicing in the Encino area and working with such amazing and talented people. Dr. Sherwood and I see all of the same patients and have the same treatment philosophy. Every patient’s treatment is reviewed by both of us and is agreed upon prior to moving forward with treatment. We believe in treating most patients in one full phase of orthodontic treatment when possible, rather than dividing treatment into two phases, although there are a few exceptions. The most important concept for parents to take home is to bring their kids to see the orthodontist at an early age in order to keep them under observation for monitoring of the growth and development of their dentition.”
What sets your business apart from the rest?
“Most offices in our field today operate as high-volume clinics with rushed patient care, frustration and anxiety. At Sherwood & Moalej Orthodontics, the assembly-line approach does not fit with our goals of providing our patients with high-quality, professional service in a comfortable environment where they can feel at ease.”
What does it take to be the best in the business?
“Being a compassionate and caring individual. I put my all in striving to provide the highest standard of care to my patients.”
What’s most rewarding about your work?
“My biggest passion in life is being involved in a career that I adore and using those talents to make a difference in an individual’s life through their smile.”
