SunCafe, a raw, vegan and vegetarian restaurant that has resided on Cahuenga Boulevard West in Studio City for the last five years (two as a wholesale operation and three with an added dining room), will move just around the bend to a much larger space formerly occupied by Zach’s Café for 18 years at 10820 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City—complete with outdoor seating and onsite parking. Co-owners Ron Russell and Rebecca Smith recently received a license to serve beer and wine at this location and are planning to open in early June.

In a reverse expansion, Studio City’s Big Sugar Bakeshop will bring their sweets to downtown LA’s financial district with the opening of  a second location on the bottom floor of the mid-modern Pegasus Apartment building at Wilshire and Flower. The target date is late July.

Olive & Thyme, a marketplace, bakery and café in Toluca Lake, is expanding into larger quarters with an estimated completion date in July.

Red Robin, which had been a fixture on Calabasas Road since 1979, closed its doors in April to make way for Lovi’s Delicatessen (owned by the Lovi family), slated to open this fall as a deli and sports bar. The family’s restaurant roots go back to the ‘70s with the Country Deli in Chatsworth, followed by Agoura’s Famous Delicatessen and Pickles Deli in Newbury Park.
