Tell us about your practice
“Clear Health Advisors was borne organically. Two women with vastly different backgrounds came together with one mission: to help people to get the best care possible. Trained in preventive medicine, Val had been working for more than a decade as a medical journalist, conducting in-depth research on a wide variety of conditions. Her work often led her to the foremost leading specialists in these areas. Byrdie had been working as a literary agent for more than 20 years at Creative Artists Agency, during which time she was forced to face our health care system up close and personal. While advocating came naturally to her, the process of trying to procure the best care for herself and her family was eye-opening.”

Describe your philosophy of care.
“At Clear Health Advisors, our philosophy of care touches people emotionally and resonates with them intellectually. We are the ultimate client- centric service provider. We are committed to getting clients to the most appropriate physicians to ensure the very best possible care.”

What about the health care system is not working?
“Our practice is unique in that we do not ‘treat’ patients. Instead, we take control of and oversee their complex health care needs. Nearly everything in the health care system is simply harder than it has to be. We work to make it easier. A lack of communication and coordination within the health care system is one of biggest problems that we see. But it is a problem that can be remedied—and one we can help with.”

To what do you attribute your practice’s growth?
“The daunting complexity of our health care system is making the need for a third party that acts solely on the patient’s behalf imperative. Currently, there is virtually no way for patients to accurately evaluate physician quality; the data to do so is extremely limited and difficult to access. It’s also complicated for patients to determine if they’re been diagnosed correctly and even more difficult for them to know if they’re receiving state-of-the-art treatment. Clear Health eliminates some of this guesswork, providing patients with clear, comprehensive and objective medical guidance and case management.”

We work with clients suffering from medically complex conditions or potentially life-threatening diagnoses.
