Belgium Waffle Haus recently expanded from Granada Hills to Studio City, bringing their creative Belgian-inspired wafflecraft to a prime location on Ventura Boulevard. Executive chef Anna Kim, teamed with husband Alex, has created a varied menu starring sweet and savory waffles and waffle sandwiches.
In every case, classic Liege-style waffles incorporate imported pearl sugar and dough that ferments for 17 hours before hitting cast-iron waffle irons. The resulting rectangles provide a crispy, chewy, sweet canvas for a world of toppings.
Waffles come topped with fresh fruit or bacon and eggs, but they can get much more elaborate. For instance, the Haus banana split comes topped with a choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream, fresh fruit, chocolate syrup, crushed Oreo cookies, whipped cream and powdered sugar. The Caprese is another fun riff; in this case, a waffle hosts mozzarella cheese, tomato, pesto dressing, balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
Belgium Waffle Haus also rotates seasonal specials. Smoked salmon croque madame is an exceptional option from their spring specials featuring a waffle topped with two organic, cage-free, over-easy eggs, Swiss cheese and hollandaise, served with lightly dressed spring mix and cherry tomato salad.
Anna and Alex are both Q Graders (certified specialty coffee experts). They built one of Studio City’s best coffee programs around Stumptown Coffee beans, a La Marzocco espresso machine, Hario V60 pourover and cold brew.
The space involves a patio with small picnic tables and burgundy umbrellas. Inside, a dining room touts wood tables and light grey walls lined with photos of the coffee process. Order at the counter.
