Even without a sign, Woodland Hills' 5 month-old gastropub, The Local Peasant, isn't hurting for attention.  With a $2 million dollar build-out, an extensive craft beer and wine list, and the same menu that gained popularity with the locals at the original Sherman Oaks location, this is the local pub that the neighborhood has always needed.

The space is inspired by the original location but grander with a touch of al fresco.  A well-thought out design allows for a seamless movement from an exterior patio to the interior room.  A massive 360 degree bar anchors the middle room, while a back bar space can accommodate crowded nights.

But even a Monday night has a healthy crowd.   There are couples in the corner, friends sharing pints on community tables, and a peppering of other locals taking advantage of the 2 am closing time—making this one of the rare late-night spots in this part of town.  Imagine Dragons and Monsters and Men, among other Coachella-esque bands, are playing on the soundtrack overhead, but there's a broader age range of patrons than the music may indicate.

Your waiter may tell you the deviled eggs are popular.  He'll probably mention the crab cakes and short rib, too.  And although some dishes such as the grilled cheese fall a bit flat, it's nothing that can't be overlooked with another cocktail or two.

And speaking of those cocktails, you're going to want to try the “El Diablo”—a blackberry-muddled concoction punched up with jalapenos and agave nectar.  Kick back with one of those any night of the week (The Local Peasant is open 7 days a week until 2 am), and observe the scene.  It's clear:  The Valley renaissance is in full effect.
