Not everybody needs or wants to spend hours in the kitchen cooking and baking for family over the holidays. For Christmas, four top Valley restaurants are providing tantalizing pickup breakfast, dinner and dessert.
Barrel & Ashes, the stylish Studio City restaurant known for smoked meats, is offering whole smoked turkeys, whole smoked bone-in spiral cut hams and smoked prime rib roasts. Holiday takeout orders must be placed by Friday, December 21, for pickup on Monday, December 24. The Bellwether, the modern California restaurant from Chef Ted Hopson and partner Ann-Marie Verdi is offering a Christmas Take-Away Menu. Niman Ranch prime rib is slow-roasted for more than 12 hours. It feeds approximately 10 people, comes with creamed horseradish and au jus, and costs $195. Most sides run $18, feed four people and include choices like Caesar salad and honey-roasted heirloom carrots with brown butter. Order by December 17 for pickup on December 23. Claudine Artisan Kitchen & Bakeshop
Claudine, an Encino cafe from Chef Anthony Jacquet and business partner Lea Newton, is providing ready-made Christmas breakfast. Options include a whole quiche for $45, tres leches French toast platters for $39 or $78, and sticky buns (four for $25 or eight for $48). Christmas also calls for pies, which Claudine is selling for $45 each. Joan McNamara and crew are offering a special Christmas Menu at their Studio City outpost. Items available range from hors d’oeuvres to multi-person entrées and desserts. Highlights include apricot-glazed ham with mustard caper sauce that feeds eight to 10 people, curried cauliflower gratinée, and chocolate or pumpkin roulades. Orders must be placed by Friday, December 21 at noon and are available for pickup on Monday, December 24, between 8 a.m. and noon.
