The not so glamorously named Braum Real Estate Plaza houses one of Studio City’s best Asian restaurants that doesn’t serve sushi: Feu Pho Kitchen. Peter Park and business partner Ryotaro Isobe also own Commonwealth restaurant in Burbank. Their latest venture debuted in the summer of 2015, featuring light grey walls, wood tables, a black-and-white bicycle photo and geometric lanterns. The menu specializes in the Vietnamese noodle soup pho, featuring beef, chicken or vegetable broths … but they’ve been known to stray from the bowl.

Any time a restaurant puts their name on a dish, pounce. I recently enjoyed two such dishes at Feu, starting with Feu garlic noodles ($7). In this case, springy egg noodles are tossed with pungent seafood garlic sake sauce, grated Parmesan, black pepper and clipped scallion garnish.

Chicken wings are a standard appetizer at many Vietnamese restaurants, but Feu chicken wings ($7) are still pretty unique. A quartet of full wings are fried and tossed in a tangy, spicy mix of coriander, star anise, Sriracha chipotle and chile vinaigrette. A final toss with minced jalapeno, green onion and cilantro helps to further brighten the dish, which will warm your palate before diving into fragrant pho.
