SusieCakes will have its grand opening at 13029 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City on October 18 with a family-friendly celebration. From 1 to 4 p.m., stop by for complimentary mini-desserts, photo ops in a classic car, face painting, a balloon artist and a coloring contest for kids. The kickoff celebration continues all week long with special promotions including a cupcake happy hour and 2-for-1 slices of cake.

This location marks the 11^th location for the home-style bakery. The first SusieCakes opened eight years ago in Brentwood. “Studio City is an ideal location for SusieCakes because of its close-knit, family-friendly community,” says founder Susie Sarich. “We hope we can make any occasion in the neighborhood, large or small, a little sweeter.”

SusieCakes makes everything on-site and from scratch without preservatives. They offer a variety of nostalgic baked goods with specialties that include cupcakes and frosted layer cakes. Rotating seasonal offerings feature fresh fruit pies baked in hand-crimped crusts and holiday-inspired treats. A selection of classic cookies and bars includes soft and chewy snickerdoodles, fudge brownies, seven-layer bars and their famous whoopie pies.

SusieCakes also offers the services of a “Celebration Specialist” who can help design custom confections. Complimentary tastings can be made by appointment only.
