Granville opened its third location on August 18 in Studio City (across from Lemonade), following Burbank and Glendale. The former Good Earth space is virtually unrecognizable as it has been completely renovated into a bright, airy, industrial-chic environment. This location has nearly 200 seats with a back area that can be closed off for parties of 30.
Granville president Jonathan Weiss explains that the restaurant design is completely different from location to location. “It’s kind of an anti-chain approach,” says Jonathan. “Granville Studio City features unique elements such as an open-air floor plan, which extends onto the sidewalk with patio seating, indoor/outdoor bar, indoor olive trees, back patio with atrium skylights, and custom art and furniture pieces from local artists—including a mural by world-famous Cryptik.”
Granville’s signature is a reasonably priced, made-from-scratch menu that includes organic greens, hormone-free meats, and ingredients with a global twist. There are many options for sharing or big plates (seafood and beef), including a good number of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free choices, as well as salads (which can be customized with a protein), burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and a separate kids menu. Breakfast and brunch are served on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. is "quick serve"—order at a counter and food will be brought to the table. All other meals are sit down service.
The restaurant is unique because its casual appeal suits all ages as well as those seeking late-night food and drinks on the weekend (open until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday!). The full bar includes handcrafted cocktails by mixologist Tricia Carr, global and local craft beers, and a wine list from boutique vendors.
Hours: Monday to Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 a.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. 12345 Ventura Boulevard, Studio City, 818-506-7050. granvillecafe.com
