‘Tis the season for shaved ice in the 818. Brian’s Shaved Ice and Boba Bar just opened its third location at 14425 ½ Ventura Blvd. in Sherman Oaks (in the center anchored by El Torito), following Tarzana and West L.A. Brian’s is unique as it offers Hawaiian shaved ice with Dole Whip (that soft serve pineapple-flavored frozen dessert made famous at Disneyland and the Dole Plantation in Hawaii), in addition to a large selection of other fillings such as macadamia nut. There is also a choice boba menu that includes milk tea, fruit tea, smoothies, frappé and slush options. All the flavors and products come from Hawaii. Owner Brian Kim and his wife are both Los Angeles natives with family in Hawaii, hence the inspiration! Open noon to 11 p.m. daily. Find them on Facebook or shavedicela.com
