Beauty Bond
Treat Dad to a “Face Off” or Mom to a “Power to the Peel” at the new Face Haus. Espousing the kind of progressive thinking that has made Dry Bar such a success, the owners of the facials-only salon (all three women live on this side of the hill and between them have 14 children) believe that treatments should affordable and easily accessible rather than expensive, special-occasion, spa-type experiences. We tried “Baby Face,” designed to cleanse exfoliate, firm and hydrate. It was as comprehensive and relaxing as any facial we’ve ever had. Kids can get in on the act too. “De-pimp My Ride” is said to calm even the most temperamental of adolescent mugs. 30 minutes/$40. 12332 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, thefacehaus.com
Day Dream
Take a trip to old-world Pasadena for one of the largest and oldest annual home and garden tours in the United States. Make a day of it. Park at the Rose Bowl and take an easy shuttle to this year’s Pasadena Showcase House, which boasts the work of 17 different designers. The on-site shopping boutique is also worth a stroll. And be sure to leave time for lunch. Through May 11. Tickets, $40. pasadenashowcase.org
Relax for Real
Take Mom or Dad for an unbelievable hour-long, full-body massage at Foot Inspiration. Held in a communal room with lights pleasantly dimmed and tranquil music, it’s easy to forget there are others present (clothes stay on). The experience begins with a mesmerizing head and neck massage; by the time you flip over for your back side, you’ll feel like you are on another planet. $37 for an hour. 14322 Ventura Blvd, Sherman Oaks, 818-461-9241
