Tony's Darts Away in Burbank is hosting their 2nd Annual Vegan Chili Cook-off on Sunday, March 2 from noon to 6 p.m. Five local chefs will go head-to-head in a battle of epic (meat-and-dairy-free) proportions. The price is $10 (includes five 3 ounce tastes of chili and a voting ballot). Competing chefs are Erick Simmons (Tony's Darts Away/ Mohawk Bend), Randy Clemens (author of The Veggie-Lover's Sriracha Cookbook), Greg Daniels (Haven Collective), Zel and Reuben Allen (VegParadise.com), and Alec Loguercio (Chili John's). Judging the chili is a rather esteemed bunch — Chef Tal Ronnen (Crossroads Executive Chef, author of The Conscious Cook), Cathy Chaplin (Gastronomyblog.com, author of Food Lover's Guide to Los Angeles) and Caroline Pardilla (CarolineOnCrack.com)
While you’re there, don’t miss the 818’s best line-up of all craft, draught, California beers, ales and ciders — sans bottles. If you’re hungering for more than chili, try one of Tony’s exceptional vegan and non-vegan hot dogs or sausages along with accompaniments such as maple-chipotle glazed sweet potato fries, or lighter fare such as poached pear and bleu cheese salad. Click here for all the details. Tony’s Darts Away, 1710 W. Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, (818) 253-1710.
